And because crib mattress manufacturers aren’t required to disclose many of the materials they use, you could unwittingly be exposing your infant to dangerous & toxic chemicals with a standard crib mattress (and even some so-called “organic crib mattress”).

What’s Inside The Pure Start Crib Mattress

The biggest reason parents love the Pure Start Non-Toxic Crib Mattress is that it’s made from just 3 simple & natural materials — with none of the flame retardants, VOCs and other harmful chemicals that many manufacturers use.

1. Steel Innersprings with Just the Right Firmness from Newborn to Early Toddler

The Pure Start Crib Mattress is made to be just the right firmness levels for your little one – all the way from newborn to toddler. The 268 coil count innerspring provides a firm, supportive surface that’s recommended for newborns (soft surface can conform to a baby’s shape and create a suffocation and SIDS hazard.) And as your baby grows into a toddler, the mattress is firm enough to provide support without being overly firm. That’s how we’re able to get the ideal firmness levels for both newborns & early toddlers in the same crib mattress.

2. Comfy layers of Tufted Organic Cotton

The innersprings are covered with layers of tufted organic cotton pads. Not only is the cotton grown organically, it is also processed naturally. Because of this it has no pesticides, no defoliants, no mineral oils & no fire-retardants.

These generous layers of cottons create a cozy & comfortable place for your baby to sleep — all the way from newborn to toddler.

3. PureGrow Wool – Nature’s Perfect Bedding Material

Then we add a layer of PureGrow Wool – which was sheared from live, healthy sheep and gently processed without chemicals. Why do we use wool here? Well, wool is the perfect bedding material for its ability to wick off moisture, regulate temperature, and reduce mildew. It’s also naturally flame resistant. That means this mattress naturally meets the fire safety standards we’re required to have by law without any harmful flame retardant chemicals.

Then, the entire mattress is covered with our Organic Cotton Cover. We make this cotton extraordinary soft & breathable by twice-washing it in gentle, non-toxic soap to remove any starch. And no bleaching or chemical treatment is ever used in this process.

And that’s it. Just steel innersprings, organic cotton, and PureGrow wool.

While we could call this an “organic crib mattress” or “natural crib mattress”, we think “non-toxic crib mattress” is the best description because of the special care we put into keeping harmful chemicals out of the mattress – something that many so-called “organic crib mattresses” do not do.

Every SleepLily mattress is made fresh to order, by hand, in California.

This means you don’t have to worry about getting a mattress that’s been sitting in a warehouse for months on end, like you do with some of the other mattresses. You’ll be getting a top-quality mattress that is perfectly pure and untainted.

Because we make each mattress to order, please allow 1-3 weeks for the production of your mattress, plus 5-10 days for shipping from California. We ship the crib mattress via UPS, and will provide tracking confirmation when your mattress is on its way!

Caring For Your Pure Start Crib Mattress

Care Instructions:

• Turn over your crib mattress at least once every six months
• If needed, air-out your mattress in the sun, and spot clean with a white vinegar and water solution, allowing it to dry completely
• It’s recommended that you use the Wool Puddle Pad to add additional, natural protection from liquid. While the PureGrow Wool in the mattress itself actively wicks away moisture, we have not added any artificial water-proofers, as these contain many of the very chemicals you want to avoid!
